Yep. That's exactly what it looks like Mr. Man is doing, except without the wary expression.

Okay: see, now……that bottom one didn't finish loading, or I wouldn't have said what I did in the previous comment.

Dang dial-up!

I remember doing that all the time when I worked at Cal-Abco, whenever anybody higher up on the ladder was near. It became an unconscious reflex. I used to come home with a severe headache and soreness between my shoulder blades. Then I connected the two. It's an unconscious reflexive-defensive posture.

But I'm MUCH better now.

Fun stuff. Too bad neither of you used the image of diminished Tilgar in his armour (or some similar concept). That seems to be the heart of the story. I can certainly see not wanting to give too much away on the cover, though.

Thanx Mark.
This is the stuff that is most true to me I have not been drawing well lately so I kinda forced my self to relax last Saturday night and let the pencil and my hand just do their thing and I got a nice little burst of images straight from somewhere deep in my person.

The masks are a metaphor for the way we take on different roles in different social circles. The symbols are alchemical for the 4 basic elements which also correspond to different states of the human condition.

Very cool. Overall-very lyrical, very mystical; I think your style is really refining. I love that lettering, I'd consider making and publishing a font out of that. What was on your mind when you did these? I can see this as a book; add some paints, develop it out some more. Of course I'm quite taken with the cat-like one, and especially the color treatment on it. I like them all, the maimed-guy, the half-masked………great theme, and I see you keep coming back to the elemental-symbols motif again and agin over the years. What meaning do they hold for you, as it seems they aren't going away?
